I don't know the official best restaurant in Wellington, but my personal favourite is Kopi, a Malaysian place, which is officially the best of its kind in town. it's open for lunch and dinner, it's on 103 Willis St and meals are from 9 to 16 NZ$. I'm almost addicted to the coconut rice (nasi kandar).
