The enigmatic Te Anau Glowworm Caves

Posted 1 year ago by avatar dock in response to tyrone's question: I like Maori culture and every time I hear about a festival or an event concerning this, I try to go there and be part of it. This time I chose to visit Te Anau. what's there to see regarding Maori legends or traditions? (give a different answer) .

Te Anau Glowworm Caves! they were rediscovered on the lake's western shore in 1948 (once known only through Maori legends). You can see with you own eyes the magical place, with waterfalls, whirlpools and glow-worm grotto in the inner reaches... sadly, it's accessible only by boat , but you can arrange a trip through Real Journeys, which conducts 2 and a half hours trips to this enigmatic place (for NZ$45).
