I only know one motel on 52 Lakefront Dr., the Edgewater XL Motel, which doesn't have the most appealing street-frontage, but it's worthy considering you get a well-equipped, one-bedroom unit a mere backpack's throw from the water. At this one a single room costs NZ$80, which isn't quite the cheapest price you can get for the same conditions, but neither the most expensive... though, feel free to search for some more options.
