Considering the fact that the airport is located at Mt Maunganui, a taxi to the centre is around NZ$11, which is not so cheap. Your choices are Citicabs (577 0999), Tauranga Taxis (578 6086) and Coastline (571 8333). But you may also take the bus which runs from Monday to Saturday to most locations in the area, including Papamoa and Te Puke.
