Te Whakarewarewa, Rotorua's largest thermal reserve

Posted 1 year ago by avatar dock in response to tyrone's question: Is there something I shouldn't miss if I visit Rotorua, from NZ? (give a different answer) .

Besides the mud baths and the Maori concerts&hangi, Te Whakarewarewa is something you should defenitely see. That's Rotuara's largest and best-known thermal reserve and a major Maori cultural area. You dwouldn't want to know what's its full name. Let's call it "Whaka". Well, you should visit Whaka's geyser through NZ Maori Arts&Crafts Institute (on Hemo Rd). this way it's imposible to miss its most spectacular geyser, Pohutu, which is Maori for "Big splash", you'll find out why...
