The Kiwi Paka YHA is where I stayed when I was there and I'm very pleased. It's around 1 km away from city centre, on 60 Tarewa Rd, it's got a thermal pool, a nice cafe and a bar. The place is great for relaxation and not a lot of fun. Camp sites start at 18 NZ$ per person and dorm beds are 22 NZ$.
