If I were to go there, I'd be willing to see at least two festivals: the Arts Festivals, because of its masked carnival parade (never been part of one!), but also because of its cabaret (oh, yeah!), literary readings, theatre and music performances, and the Nelson Jazz Festival, because I like jazz. If you want to find more about these, check out www.nelsonfestivlas.co.nz and www.nelsonjazz.co.nz. The jazz festival is in late December, or so I've heard.
