Let's take them in one order... the World Buskers Festival entertains the city streets from mid- to late January, concentrated around Cathedral Sq and the Arts Centre. Then there's the Flowers and Romance Festival (in mid- February), where you can admire the city gardens in full bloom. In the first half of November it's fun watching horce races (such as the NZ Cup) or fashion shows and fireworks during the Showtime Canterbury. see www.showtimecanterbury.co.nz. you'll find there all you need.
