My friends and I found two places that offer surfing courses, we tried them both and we liked them. One is Aloha Surf School, that have lessons at Piha and other place, too, with very experienced instructors. One and a half - two hours of lessons cost 80 NZ$. The number is 489 2846. The other place is NZ Surf Tours (832 9622) that have weekend courses, inlcuding transportation, equipment and 3 hours of lessons per day.
